VARSITY THROTTLES OAK PARK 65-0

The Varsity Highlanders set a new all time record in a game by racking up 65 points against Oak Park on Friday, September 17th. Not much went wrong for the Brown and Gold on this night as they finally unleashed their true potential on offense and displayed how great of a team they really are on defense.

A 3rd down sack by Mo Benjamin, Alec Trumble and Mike Fisher gave the ball to the Highlanders on their own 39 yard line. Long runs by Tony Annese set up the offense at the Oak Park 10; however an interception proved to be the only offensive possession the Highlanders would not score on all night.

A questionable official call on an Oak Park punt gave Adams the ball at the Oak Park 26. Runs by Tony Annese, Andrew Hammett, Phil Annese and Edward Williams set up the Highlanders first score with a Tony Annese sneak over Spencer Cairo from the 2 yard line.

Sukhman Sidhu sacked the Oak Park quarterback to set up the next Highlander touchdown. A bad punt on 4th down gave Adams possession at the Oak Park 9 yard line. A Touchdown strike from Tony to Phil Annese from the 12, gave Adams a 14-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter.

Chris Young made a big Special Teams play on the next series giving the Brown and Gold possession at the Oak Park 29. Tony Annese snuck over center again a few plays later to put Adams up by 21.
Tony Annese then connected with Andrew Hammett for the next score.

A fumble recovery on the ensuing kickoff by the Highlanders set up a Tony Annese to Darrian Bell TD pass from the Oak Park 25, making the score 42-0 Adams at the Half.

TD runs by Tony Annese, Chris Young and Desante Dinkins completed the Highlander scoring in the 2nd half.

Lonnie Jaynes had a couple of bone crushing hits on defense in the 2nd half. Alex Borglin a few nice attempted pass break ups and David Jagow a few nice runs from his fullback position.

Now the Highlanders set their sights on Southfield, for a huge game on September 24th. Southfield is coming off of a disappointing loss to Stoney Creek and will not be in a pleasant mood.

Nice job Boys....Leaders find a way to rise above the drama and simply play football...You are on Your Way..We are all very proud.

GO HIGHLANDERS!!
