11/4 SEASON FINALE - BATTLING ON THE ROAD, ROCHESTER ADAMS FALLS TO PORT HURON 27-21
Game Photo
2011 Season Ends - Unbelievable as it seems
On a crisp November night in Memorial Park Stadium in Port Huron, a classic setting for high school play-off football, a game Rochester Adams Highlanders team gave the Port Huron Big Red all it could handle, only to fall short by a fourth quarter touchdown. The decibel-level from home town fans really intensified in the second half (accentuated by the stadium’s concrete structure and close proximity of the stands to the field) to spur on the Big Red and complicate the offensive execution for the Adams Highlanders. The over-all intensity was unlike any game situation faced by the Rochester Adams Highlanders this year. The difference in this close game spanned an eight minute interval starting at the four minute mark of the third quarter. The Highlanders leading 21-19 at the time had just made a crucial defensive stand on a fourth-and-one at their 32 yard line. ...More

10/20 JV TROUNCED BY COUGARS 47-14 IN FINAL 2011 GAME
Game Photo
HIGHLANDERS!
Jordan Shive intercepted a Stoney Creek pass and ran it back 32 yards for a touchdown on the second play of the game. This gave Adams JV a quick 7-0 lead but Stoney would score on a 65 yard run one play later and go on to beat Adams 47-14 on Thursday night at Adams field. The final game of the season was played on a cold and rainy night and Adams just couldn’t muster any offense against a good Stoney team. Down 21-7 late in the first half, Press Kampe hit Shive on a nice 65 yard catch and run to bring the JV within 7 with the score at 21-14. Then Stoney Creek would return the kick off deep into Adams territory and score a couple of plays later to retake the games momentum. The ground game that Adams relied on all season was held to just 59 yards, a season low. Kampe threw for 101 yards all in the first half. (All stats are unofficial) Other highlights on the night included Jack Addy blocking 2 of Stoney Creeks extra points and Parker Monahan intercepting a Cougar pass. ...More

10/20 FRESHMEN SQUEEZE BY THE STONEY CREEK COUGARS 15-13 TO WRAP UP THE SEASON
Game Photo
Freshmen Finish off their strong 6-2-1 year in style
The Freshmen Highlanders finished the season the same way they started it, with a tough hard fought win but this time over crosstown rival Stoney Creek Cougars. The rain and wind became a factor early on with both teams having trouble holding on to the ball. In the end the Team that made the least amount of mistakes pulled out the Victory. Stoney Creek came ready to play as the emotions of the game spilled onto the field before kickoff. A rowdy Cougar Nation was getting psyched up by the SC coaching staff for a big win at Adams HS. As the cold rain and crazy winds ripped through the spectators layered winter outfits, the start of the game was all ADAMS. Jacob Okarski started out the game with one of his best returns of the season breaking his way through the Cougars down to the SC 35 yard line. ...More

10/14 ADAMS VARSITY ROUTS TROY COLTS 35-19
Game Photo
Team Work put the game in Win Column
The Adams Highlanders snapped a 3 game losing skid with a convincing 35-19 victory over the Troy Colts in an OAA crossover matchup Friday night. Adams first score was set up by a great defensive effort by Alex Borglin blocking a Troy punt. Adams took over on the Troy 17 yard line and soon scored on a Tony Annese 15 yd. scamper into the end zone. 7-0 Adams. In the 2nd quarter Troy, unable to move the ball effectively against a stingy Adams defense, punts the ball to the Adams own 6 yard line. Adams proceeded to march 94 yards for a score. The drive was highlighted by impressive long runs by David Jagow and Tony Annese. Annese capped the drive off with a 7 yard touchdown run. 14-0 Adams Adams was not finished scoring in the first half. Annese connected with Kyle Pelayo on a 28 yard TD pass, allowing them to take a 21-0 lead. Adams received the ball in the 2nd half and proceeded to drive down the field for another touchdown. ...More

10/13 JV TOPS TROY COLTS 26-21 in OAA CROSSOVER GAME
Game Photo
JV Team pulls together and pulls out a Victory
Press Kampe scored on a seven yard run with 58 seconds remaining as the Adam’s JV came back to beat the Troy Colts 26-21 in a cross over game Thursday night at Adams field. The game was another in a long line of exciting fourth quarter finishes for the JV. Leading by six with under eight minutes to play, a Cole Davis interception inside the Adams twenty seemed to give all the momentum to the Highlanders. After the Colts sacked Kampe on third and long, Kaleb Halteman boomed a 49 yard punt to pin the Colts deep in their own territory with five minutes to play. On the second play the Colts running back seemed to break about 50 tackles and was finally pushed out of bounds inside the Adams 10. They scored on the next play. The extra point gave the Colts a 21-20 lead with 4:30 to go in the game. Parker Monahan returned the ensuing kickoff 30 yards to midfield and that was where the JV team started the game winning drive. Derek Willis intercepted a last ditch Colt pass to end the game. ...More

10/13 FRESHMEN GET BACK TO THEIR WINNING WAYS, BEAT COLTS 26-0
Game Photo
Pink Works Out Well for the Frosh
On a beautiful sunny Thursday afternoon Fr Adams Highlanders delivered a blow to the Troy Colts, 26-0. Once again, Defense led the way for the 5-2-1 Highlanders. Led by Captain Jacob Okarski, the Defense earned its first shutout of the season with unrelenting pressure up the middle and solid play from the Defensive Backs. Linebacker Lance Dunbar delivered another strong performance on Defense with many TFL’s as well as making big runs up the middle on Offense. Troy started the day with a successful onside kick. The first series started and ended with great pressure from the D resulting in a sack from Lance Dunbar. The sack forced a punt and the Offense came on the field for the first time only to fumble the ball away to a stingy Troy Colt defense. Troy’s 2nd possession came to quick end while trying to pass through the air. ...More

10/6 VARSITY LOSES TO #1 RANKED HAWKS 48-21
Game Photo

The Adams Varsity team clashed with Farmington Hills Harrison on a beautiful Thursday evening at Adams. Both teams came out with guns blazing in the first ˝ with big plays, big hits and tough football. Harrison drew blood quickly on their first possession with a 5 play, 60-yard drive for a score. After exchanging the ball a few times, the Adams defense stepped up with strong defensive back play by Jack Twitty and Alex Borglin to stop the Hawks and get the ball back into the hands of Corey Clemons and the Adams offense. David Jagow followed huge blocks by Jared Sinard & Alex Lang to break out on a 76 yard TD run and even the score at 7-7. Harrison responded with an impressive 65 yard drive to take a 14-7 lead to end the 1st quarter. Adams opened the 2nd quarter with a decisive drive – Clemons hit Jack Twitty with a 22-yard pass and Jagow busted a nice 24 yard scamper up the middle behind the bulldozing trio of Alex Chambery, Matt Cobb & Jared Simard. ...More

10/5 JV FALLS TO HARRISON 35-17
Game Photo

Parker Monahan’s great special teams play led the Adams JV team to a 14-7 halftime lead but the Highlanders could not hold on as they dropped a 35-17 decision to Farmington Hills Harrison on Wednesday night at Harrison. Early turnovers plagued the team again as Harrison scored 14 of their first 21 points off Adams fumbles. Down 7-0, Monahan took a Harrison punt 44 yards to set up a Jordan Shive one yard scoring plunge. After another great Monahan punt return, the offense scored on a Clarence Broadnax one yard run to lead 14-7. The game changed early in the third quarter when Harrison completed a 50 yard pass on a third and 7 from deep in their own territory. They scored on the next play. An Adams fumble on the next possession allowed Harrison to put 6 more quick points on the board and the Highlanders couldn’t overcome the momentum swing. Dylan Anderson and William Tang were all over the field delivering big hits as the defense played a great first half. ...More

10/5 FRESHMEN SHUT OUT BY HIGH FLYING HAWKS 19-0
Game Photo

On a sunny Fall day in Farmington, the weather was not the problem for the Adams Freshmen. The Offense is struggling to move the ball with any consistency and continues to turn the ball over at a high clip. Starting QB Cameron Gugel played for the first time in weeks before Spampinato came in relief early in Q1. Harrison marched down the field on its 1st possession but lost ground as the Highlander Defense tightened and forced a turnover on downs at the Adams 29 yard line. Adams took over and did not move the ball on the ground after the 3 plays, resulting in the first punt of the day by Lance Dunbar. Harrison took over at the 50 and quickly met the Linebacking duo of Mark Sokol and Matt Harris with a TFL to start the series. Defensive tackle Martin Ivejaz created havoc in the middle with his best performance of the year by tackling the Harrison RB behind the line of scrimmage. ...More

Highlanders have tough time stopping Oxford Running Game on Rain Soaked Field
Running back Prescott Line rushed 50 times for 249 yards and three touchowns, including the game winner, as Oxford picked up a 22-16 overtime road win over Rochester Adams in Oakland Activities Association White action. Line's 7-yard touchdown run in the extra period gave Oxford the lead for the first time since late in the first half. The Wildcats defense recovered its third Adams fumble of the game on the 3-yard line on the ensuing series to spoil the Adams Homecoming. “It was a great win for our program,” Oxford coach Bud Rowley added. “It took every player, all six of our coaches and all of our fans for this incredible win for Oxford.” The game was greatly affected by the lack of production from the kicking game. ...More

Game Photo
Quinton Mack (#6) runs into the endzone in JV victory.
The Rochester Adams JV put together a complete game Thursday night, recording a 28-8 victory over Oxford on the Wildcats new blue turf. Despite a steady downpour, the offense clicked on all cylinders while the defense dominated the first half and played solid in the second half. The Highlanders took the opening kickoff and went on a nine play drive covering nearly 80 yards to take a 7-0 lead. The first eight plays were running plays then on the ninth play Press Kampe hit Jordan Shive for a 26-yard touchdown strike. After a defensive 3 and out, Kampe picked up a fumbled snap and outran the Oxford defense for a 39-yard touchdown. The JV scored on their third possession when Clarence Broadnax carried three Oxford defenders into the endzone for a 10-yard touchdown. The halftime score remained 21 -0 after Quinton Mack’s 47-yard field goal in the driving rain hit the cross bar and fell short with less than a minute to play in the half. ...More

Tim Whitlow (#35) runs the ball all afternoon; scores only TD
Thursday afternoon was cold and rain soaked. Max Spampinato got the start again at QB while Cam Gugel recovers from a concussion a few weeks ago. With a steady rain and wind blowing in excess of 15 MPH, the Highlanders Defense held the Oxford Wildcats in check for most of the day despite an early Touchdown in Q1. As the Defense rose up and forced the play the Offense found a kickstart from a newcomer named Tim Whitlow. Trailing 6-0 at the end of Q1, the Highlanders started to move the ball on the ground with some nice counter plays to Slot Tim Whitlow. The large gains created some needed Offense as the middle was well protected by a Wildcat team that was well prepared for the Veer set. Lance Dunbar twisted his knee after a strong gallop for a first down in Q2. Steven Milke stepped in at the 4 back and had some nice runs of his own to move the Highlanders down to the 22 yard line with a first down. ...More

9/24 VARSITY STUNG BY SOUTHFIELD 34-31
Game Photo
Ben Hart (#3) goes all the way for an 80 yard kick-off return
Southfield benefited from senior quarterback Justin Danzy’s impressive afternoon en route to a 34-31 victory over Oakland Activities Association rival Rochester Adams. “He probably had his best game in the past two years,” Southfield coach Tim Conley said of Danzy, who has gotten attention from Ivy League schools. During a third-quarter stretch spanning two drives Saturday, Danzy completed 10 consecutive passes, accumulating 149 yards in that time for the host Blue Jays (4-1, 3-1), who posted their first victory over Adams (3-2, 3-1) since 2007. The loss gave the Highlanders’ their first loss in the conference this season as they were hampered by a pair of second-half interceptions and a fumble. But the Blue Jays’ shake-up in the OAA didn’t come easy. “This league’s going to be tough,” Conley said. ...More

9/22 SOUTHFIELD TOPS JV HIGHLANDERS 23-17
The Rochester Adams JV lost another heart breaker onThursday night at home, 23-17 to the Southfield Blue Jays. Quinton Mack kicked three field goals (25-38-21yards) and the special teams came up with some huge plays to give the Highlanders a late chance to pull the game out, but the Southfield defense rose to the challenge to hang on for the win. Down 23-14 with just under six minutes left, the Adams defense caused a fumble on it's own five to give the Highlanders a chance. Jordan Shive broke a 56 yard run and then Press Kampe completed a 24 yard strike to Shive to put the JV in the red zone. The offense could not punch the ball in and settled for a 21 yard Mack field goal to cut the lead to 6. On the ensuing kick off Andrew Lamkin placed a perfect pooch kick down the sideline and Parker Monahan beat every one to the ball to give the JV a final chance in the redzone. Shive lead the offense with 87 yards on 3 carries. Kampe had 39 yards 5 carries and Kaleb Halteman had 24 yards on 5 carries. Clarence Broadnax scored the lone touchdown of the night on a 7 yard run and holder Cole Davis hit Shive for a two point conversion after the touchdown. The JV try to get back in the win column next week as they travel to Oxford to play on the new blue turf for the first time. Game time is 6:30.

9/22 FRESHMEN FALL TO SOUTHFIELD FOR FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON 24-6
Perfect weather greeted the Adams freshmen on the last full day of summer as they hosted Southfield High School on September 22. The outcome, however, was not so perfect as the Blue Jays prevailed, 24-6. Southfield returned the opening kickoff 43 yards to Adams’ 37 and mounted a nine-play drive to take a 6-0 lead. The extra point attempt failed. Adams responded with its own nine-play drive, highlighted by strong running by Lance Dunbar, Max Spampinato and Steven Milke, before turning the ball over on downs. The Highlander defense held on the next series, but a four-and-out offensive series led to yet another nine-play, 69-yard drive by Southfield for a 12-0 lead with five minutes to play in the half. Adams drove 65 yards for its touchdown, a 6-yard run by Milke, shortly before halftime. Milke and Dunbar each tallied about 30 rushing yards on the drive. The kick was wide and the Highlanders trailed 12-6. Even though Adams started with the ball in the second half, Southfield was able to shut down the Highlander running game. Striking quickly when they took possession, the Blue Jays scored on a 70-yard pass play to seize control, 18-6. Adams was unable to sustain an offensive attack for the remainder of the game and fumbled deep in its own end midway through the fourth quarter. Southfield covered 25 yards in four plays for its fourth touchdown, producing the 24-6 final score. Overshadowed in the loss was a stalwart effort at QB by Spampinato as well as some productive fourth-quarter running by Marshall Bowery. The defense was led by multiple tackles from Dunbar, Greg Boileau, Nick Antenucci, Conor Callaghan, Mark Sokol and Nick Corsi. The freshmen record stands at 4-1 with an away tilt at Oxford High School scheduled for next Thursday, September 29, at 4:30 p.m.

9/16 VARSITY DEFENSE STOPS THE KNIGHTS; HIGHLANDERS WIN 23-13
Game Photo
Adams Defense Shuts Down Oak Park in Second Half
On a Friday night perfect for football the Highlanders traveled to Oak Park for an early evening match up against the Knights. The Knights took first possession of the ball on the 15 yard line and in a drive that was riddled with four false starts, they would use up the entire first quarter with their offensive drive. A combination of QB keeper plays by Chris Wesley and a pass completed to Knights receiver Williams brought the ball down to the Highlanders 47 yard line. A sack by Highlander Mike Fisher and a couple of great stops by the defense couldn’t keep Oak Park out of the end zone. Denzel White scored with 10 seconds left in the quarter, with the extra point making it 7-0 Oak Park. Anxious to get into the game after an entire quarter on the sideline, the Adams offense came out firing on all cylinders. Ben Hart returned the punt to the 32 yard line to start the drive. A 21 yard carry by Tony Annese behind some great blocking moved the ball into Oak Park territory. ...More

9/15 JV RECORD EVENS UP WITH VICTORY OVER OAK PARK 30-12

Andrew Lampkin (#14) Ran for 1 TD and threw for 2 as JV puts away the Knights
The Rochester Adams JV jumped out to a big lead, survived an Oak Park rally, and then dominated the fourth quarter to roll to a 31-12 home victory Thursday night. Jacob VerPloeg’s key interception set up a Press Kampe 12 yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to break open a nine point game, and Quinton Mack’s 35 yard field goal sealed the 2nd win of the year for the Highlanders. Andrew Lamkin ran for a touchdown and threw for two to give Adams a 21 point lead in the first half. His 70 yard strike to Jordan Shive highlighted a half in which Adams moved the ball at will and dominated on defense. Lamkin also hit Derek Willis for a five yard score. Adams’ offense accounted for 337 yards, 254 of them on the ground, but turnovers kept them from piling up more points. The key to this victory was the defense. Led by Jack Addy, Shive and Jonathan Jack, the defense kept Oak Park bottled up for most of the night. ...More

9/15 FRESHMEN KEEP ROLLING WITH WIN OVER GROVES 30-14
Game Photo
#54 Lance Dunbar Runs up the middle and delivers a few sacks in 4th in-a-row for the Frosh
Rochester Adams Freshmen had to work for victory #4 due to many miscues and turnovers in the first half. For the first time all season, Adams trailed for most of the first half before clicking on all gears and pulling away with a 30-14 win on a sunny but chilly Thursday at Adams High School. After the Defense had an easy 3 and out, the Offense took over for its first possession at Adams own 35 yard line. A fumble on the first play from scrimmage gave Groves excellent field position to start their second drive of the game. Groves did not disappoint and drove into the end zone around the right side of the line. 2 Pt conversion was good. Score 8-0 Groves @ 6:41 Q1. After an excellent kickoff return of 40+ yards by Nick Antenucci, the Offense takes over at the Groves 10 yard line. Alex Chambery, Jack Sichender, Mike Fisher, Alex Lang and Matt Cobb opened holes for the Adams running game. Adam Boike went for 11 yards, followed by David Jagow for a 12 yard gain, and then Annese had a 8 yard run setting up Hart’s 9 yard Touchdown run on a counter play. Ryan Cesiel added the extra point to make it Adams 7 to 0. Southfield Lathrup took over on offense after the kickoff on their 31 yard line. 9/8 CHARGERS SQUEAK PAST ADAMS JV 24-23
Game Photo
Derek Willis (#3) keeps the ball moving downfield
A tight defensive struggle turned into a fourth quarter offensive shootout as the Adams JV lost a heart-breaking one point game last night at Lathrup High School. Kicker Quinton Mack was stopped one yard short of converting a fake extra point attempt with 30 seconds to go to seal the 24-23 victory for Lathrup. Adams, down 24-17 with 1:30 left in the game, drove the ball 75 yards behind four completions by quarterback Andrew Lamkin. The first, a 25 yard flea flicker to Derek Willis who pitched the ball to Jordan Shive, the last a 15 yard TD strike to Willis, bringing Adams to within one point with 33 seconds to go. Adams elected to go for the win, but Lathrup was able to stop Mack. Mack connected on a 25-yard FG late in the second quarter for the first three points of the game. Lathrup took an 8-3 lead with just under two minutes to go in the half. ...More

9/8 FRESHMEN HIGHLANDERS CRUSH THE CHARGERS 41-14
Game Photo
Arman Khan scores big in first half of offensive show by our Freshmen
3-0 Freshmen Highlanders start off with big play from QB Cameron Gugel in 41-14 Win. Gugel’s first play from scrimmage was a memorable one in which he rolled down field for a 58 yard TD run. The Offensive line, led by Ryan Bernier and Paul Moceri created huge holes for the backfield to navigate downfield all game. The Defense, led by LB Lance Dunbar, held Southfield Lathrup to negative yards on their first series from scrimmage. Upon a strong Punt Return by all- purpose back Jacob Okarski the Offense was back running downhill once again led by another Cameron Gugel TD on 4th down. New Kicker Nick Lundstrom made a strong first impression with his second Extra Point conversion. The score was 14-0 before the Hotdog warmer was turned on at the concession stand. Southfield Lathrup tried to move the ball through the air on it’s next possession however the defensive backfield held strong with no receptions for the entire game. ...More

Jagow TD is one of 5 scored in big win over Farmington
It was a hot time at the Farmington Falcons field where at game time the temperature hovered around 92 degrees. Adams received the kick-off and was returned by #3 Ben Hart, starting the opening drive at the 30 yard line. #42 David Jagow started the drive with a 4 yard run, follow by a 5 yard run by Tony Annese. 3rd and 1, #42 David Jagow rips off a 13 yd. run for a first down. 9/1 FROSH FLATTEN FALCONS 40-22
Game Photo
Offense on Fire; Defense on Target for second win
The calendar said September but the thermometer was stuck in August as the Freshmen Highlanders kicked off in 86 degree heat to face their next challenge of the 2011 season; the Farmington Falcons. You have one opportunity to make a good first impression and the Highlanders did exactly that with a rock solid, three and out defensive series to start the game. The Highlanders took possession at 10:05 of the first quarter and mounted a four minute, 51 yard offensive drive with strong runs by Cameron Gugel and Max Spampinato that brought the Highlanders down to the 8 yard line before Lance Dunbar punched it in to put the Highlanders on the scoreboard first at 6-0. The Highlanders kept the heat on with another strong defensive series led by Mark Sokol to get the ball back at the 4:50 mark. ...More

8/31 CHARITY BOWL HONOREE SUBMISSION INFORMATION DUE THIS THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1

Submission of picture and bio for the person being represented by your player must be submitted by this Thursday to the New Day Foundation in order for the information to be in the program. I know this sounds early, but because of the sheer volume of honorees being represented from Adams and Stoney Creek Football and Cheer programs, it is a huge job for Stoney’s volunteer who is putting it together. Payment does not have to be included at this time.

We are looking for 100% participation from our Varsity Players. As of right now, Adams has had very few submissions.

Coach Patritto will be discuss this again with the players on Tuesday afternoon, so you’re player should be aware of it and will be bringing home papers as well. Please see the information below to further explain the program. We are hoping all players will be in the white/pink jerseys for our game on October 21. On a side note, players will be announced by the name on the back of the jersey during the game (example: “Tackle made by Grandma Jane”). Lastly, we have attached a sample letter for the players to help solicit funds.

If you have any questions, contact Janet Niswonger at Jtniswonger@wowway.com

Clemons completes 3 passes leading to an Adams TD
The rivalry between Rochester Adams and Clarkston's football team has been a heated battle since 2004. And this year it was no different. Like their previous meetings, this one was nothing short of a jaw-dropper. Clarkston held off Rochester Adams, 28-21, Friday night on Adams' homefield in MLive.com's Oakland Activities Association Metro Detroit Football Spotlight game. Clarkston drew first blood with a touchdown by junior running back Ben Kaminsky with a little less than eight minutes left in the first quarter. After a turnover exchange, Adams senior quarterback Tony Annesee rushed for a 27-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 with two minutes left in the first quarter. From then on, Clarkston dominated the game, pushing the lead to 14-7 at halftime and 21-7 by the end of the third quarter. Clarkston's head coach Kurt Richardson had senior quarterback Mitch Baenziger to thank for that. ...More

8/25 ADAMS FROSH BEAT CLARKSTON 12-6 IN SEASON OPENER
    Game Photo
Tough Defense Keeps the Wolves at Bay
The Rochester Adams Highlander Freshman team began their season campaign with an exciting away victory over the worthy Clarkston Wolves by a score of 12-6. This inaugural game was characterized by a strong offensive start, coupled with a very stingy defense throughout. The Highlanders (now 1-0) started their winning ways on the road by coming out of the gates with two quick, first-quarter scores. The score by quarter was: 12-0 (Q1), 12-6 (Half), 12-6 (Q3) and 12-6 (Q4), repectively. The game was a mostly defensive struggle, characterized by good team play with some key turnovers. The defense, but for a few plays, was fierce and effective. The Highlanders scored first on a long Cameron Gugel pass to Jacob Okarski that left the Wolves clawing at air. ...More
