11/6 Highlanders Fall to Rice 24-7 in District Final
The Highlanders came up on the short end of a 24-7 game against Brother Rice on November 6th to end their season in the District Final of the State Playoffs. Not much went right for the Highlanders in this one as they had trouble stopping the Rice offensive attack and turned the ball over a few times on offense. Rice broke a 7-7 tie late in the 2nd quarter and took over from there for the victory. Rice opened the scoring on an 18 yard touchdown pass with over 5 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter. The Highlanders answered right back as Tyler Martin picked up an Adams fumble and ran 67 yards to the Rice 2. Sukhman Sidhu ran it in from there to tie the score at 7. Rice recovered a fumble at the Adams 39 yard line late in the 2nd quarter and a few plays later completed an 18 yard pass for the touchdown and a 14-7 lead at the Half. Rice went up 21-7 in the 3rd quarter on a 7 yard touchdown run. Later they kicked a 32 yard field goal to end the scoring at 24-7. A tough loss and season end for the 2009 Highlanders. This rendition of the Highlanders will go down as living the standard of the classes before them. Tough work ethic, strong leadership and dedication to winning will be the legacy of the 2009 Highlanders. To the underclassmen, the work starts now. The bar continues to be very high in the proud tradition of Adams Football. Do us Proud! To the seniors. Thank You. Thank you for your dedication, your effort, your will. 10/31 Freshmen Lend a hand at Dinosaur Hill

On Sunday, October 25th, 28 Freshman Footballs players held a Community Service project at Dinosaur Hill’s Annual Halloween Hoot. After the last hoot presentations, the boys started down the trails taking down tents, picking up decorations and helping collect luminarias. Just as our freshman team did a great job on the field this year, they did a great job in assisting Dinosaur Hill and received an invitation back next year to help out again.
Thanks to everyone who helped, and thanks to parents who dropped off and picked up their kids. A special thank you to those parents who stayed and helped organize too!

10/30 Highlanders Rally Past Fenton 29-23 in predistrict playoff

The Rochester Adams Football Highlanders have been fortunate enough to be in many playoffs games, thirteen straight as our Playoff Program says, but who’s counting? Over the year’s this first round is on or near Halloween and sometimes the ghosts and goblins have their way. Whether it’s playing in an eerie fog, running up against a ‘buzz-saw’ first round opponent and still win or face the disappointment of a first round defeat, the opening playoff game has been full of surprises over the years. Angel’s night 2009, most ‘experts’ predicted that Fenton wouldn’t come within 17 points of Adams in this game. Fenton’s hometown newspaper predicted a big Highlander victory. The beauty of Football and in life believes that you can overcome long odds. Fenton came into this game with a well structured game plan and a certain swagger and confidence that they couldn’t only play, but win this game. As it turned out, the game came down to the last play from the Adams 6 yard line. ...More

10/29 Playoff Shirts

Players show off their new shirts (Photo by Carolanne McClelland)

Varsity Players picked up their new Playoff T-Shirts at the pasta party on Thursday evening. According to Karin Walbrun, who handles all of the spirit wear for Adams Football, "All of the boys were anxious to check out the new shirts. Playoffs are special, and being able to provide the shirts to the team is in part due to the team's efforts at fundraising." Adams just concluded its first ever "cow chip bingo" fundraiser two weeks ago. Adams plays in the first round of the state playoffs with the Pre-district game Friday at 7:00 PM.

10/23 Varsity cap regular season with a 55-21 victory over Rochester
Game Photo
It's Friday, It's raining, It's cold...It must be time for Highlander Football! ...Wayne Conti
The Rochester Adams Football Highlanders closed the regular season out with a very impressive 55-21 win over the Falcons from Rochester on October 23rd. Another rainy, dreary and windy night was the setting at Highlander stadium, a scene that has become all too familiar to the Highlander faithful as this 2009 football season has been pummeled with rain for many of the games. Adams could have been vulnerable as they had already locked up a playoff berth and a seat on top of the OAA White division. The Brown and Gold however came out focused and ready to take on the Falcons in this classic cross town rivalry game. Adams started the scoring on their first offensive possession. Quarterback Andrew Hammett had two runs for 21 yards to set up 1rst down at the Rochester 40 yard line. Tyler Martin busted thru for 34 yards and Matt Rea ran the remaining 6 yards on the next play for a 7-0 Adams lead. Rochester came right back with a drive that started on their 20. ...More

10/22 Rochester JV scores last second touchdown to top Adams, 16-12
The annual clash between the JV Rochester Adams Highlanders and the Rochester Falcons was another nail biter. The game featured big momentum swings for both teams. The Falcons notched two touchdowns, the first on their opening drive and the second on their final drive of the game, which unfortunately came with 7 seconds remaining to give Rochester a big 16-12 victory over Adams. In between these scoring drives Adams played a solid game, moving the ball and containing the potent Falcon rushing attack. For the cheering fans who braved the third straight week of wind, rain and cold weather they certainly got their money's worth. Adams came out firing on their first drive of the game moving the chains thanks to some solid runs by Adam Boike and Nick Theoret, however a third down and five pass attempt came up short and the Highlanders had to punt the ball. The Falcons responded on their first drive with a very efficient six play, 56 yard scoring drive. ...More

10/22 Freshmen Highlanders Top Falcons 40-15
The season ending games with cross-town rival Rochester High are always something that both sides look forward to. This year’s game featured the 7-1 Highlanders whose record’s only blemish was against Lake Orion the previous week and a Falcon side that had scored a lot of points in route to a 6-2 record. The Falcons knew they needed to get off to a good start and set the tone and it looked like they would when a wide receiver screen on their first play from scrimmage went 70 yards for an apparent touchdown, however, the Falcon faithful moaned as it came all the way back because of a block in the back. Rochester was forced to punt when the drive stalled. Adams took over and quickly made the Falcons pay for the miscue. QB Kyle Niswonger burst into the Falcon secondary in route to a 47 yard QB keeper. Slot back Jack Twitty then carried for 8 yards and the game’s first score (that counted) putting the Highlanders on top 6-0. The XP was no-good. ...More

10/16 Adams Varsity falls to Lake Orion: Adams 13 LO 23
Game Photo

The Varsity Highlanders came up short against Lake Orion suffering their second loss of the season while chalking up six wins. The Lake Orion game has turned into a great tune-up for both teams the last couple of years as they look to finish the regular season and start a playoff run. The game on October 16th was physical and close as the score was tied at 13 heading into the 4rth quarter. Turnovers played a big part in the outcome, as Adams put the ball on the carpet several times that Lake Orion converted to points. Adams drove to Lake Orion 45 yard line before a fumble switched possession to the Dragons. The Adams defense stiffened from there and both teams could not get much offensive momentum until a drive by Lake Orion that started at their 45. A 13 yard run and a pass completion to the 1 yard line set up the touchdown for Lake Orion to put them up 7-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. Adams came right back with a touchdown of their own on a drive that started on their 36. ...More

10/15 Adams JV notch big 34-6 victory over Lake Orion
Game Photo
Perfect practice makes for perfect play, or so goes the old saying. Well, after a very strong week of practice the JV Highlanders came out firing against rival Lake Orion scoring four times in the first quarter on their way to a commanding 34-6 victory. The cold, wind and rain didn't slow down the Highlanders as freshman quarterback, Jeremy Ball, notched three touchdown passes (two of them to Matt Bowery), three interceptions (two by Adam Boike) and all-around great special teams play. This victory provides a healthy dose of momentum as the Highlanders face Rochester next week. The opening kick-off by Lake Orion bounced down the slippery field and was fielded by Adam Boike who deftly avoided would be tacklers with a 25 yard return to the Highlander 42 yard line. ...More

Two of Oakland County’s heavyweights faced off on Thursday in the biting cold of Highlander Stadium. Lake Orion entered Thursday’s game at 6-1 having won 6 straight and outscoring their opponents an unbelievable 166-6 in their last 3 games. The Freshman Highlanders were a perfect 7-0. The Highlanders started the game from their own 22 yard line and proceeded to slowly and methodically move down the field. Ben Hart carried 8 yards on third down for a first down, Kyle Niswonger hooked up on two passes with CJ Borglin each for 9 yards and a first down and the Highlanders marched deep into Lake Orion territory. Zack Littleson bulldozed up the middle for 5 yards to give the Highlanders the ball on the 1 foot line but an illegal procedure call on the next play nullified an Adams touchdown and moved the ball back to the 6. ...More

10/9 Adams Varsity Wins Big Over Harrison 30-10
Game Photo
Nick DeMiro recovers a Harrison fumble in the end zone for a touch down
The sign of a good team is one that capitalizes on their opponents miscues. Adams took advantage of the Farmington Hills Harrison turnovers on a cold and rainy parent night on October 9th. Harrison jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the 1st quarter until Adams came roaring back. A huge turnaround play on special teams from Adams changed the momentum of the game and led to the victory from the Brown and Gold. Adams took their opening drive to the Harrison side of the field. A failed 4rth down conversion gave Harrison the ball back at their 27. Two long runs set up a 53 yard TD run around left end to put Harrison up 7-0 early in the game. A 3 and out by Adams gave the ball back to Harrison at the Adams 18. A few plays later a 30 yard field goal put Harrison up 10-0 to the shock of the Highlander faithful. A wet pigskin caused a bad exchange from center on an Adams 3rd down, which gave possession back to Harrison at midfield. ...More

10/8 Harrison JV takes down Adams
It was not hard to see why the JV Farmington Harrison Hawks are undefeated. On a cold, windy, rainy night in Farmington, the Hawks scored on their first four possessions taking a quick lead on their way to a 42-12 victory over Rochester Adams (4-3). These two teams dominate the OAA year in and year out by playing fundamentally sound football. No gimmicks or run-and-shoot stuff with these two programs, just basic hard nosed football. Tonight the Hawks did a fine job of controlling the line and leveraging a deep stable of running backs. The story of the game was really written in the first three minutes as the Hawks quickly put the Highlanders in a hole scoring two touchdowns in the first 2:55 of the game. Harrison received the ball to start the game and with five straight runs on a 65 yard scoring drive. On Adams first drive of the game that old nemesis, the fumble, made a nasty appearance as Adams turned the ball over on their first play. ...More

10/8 Freshman Highlanders Remain Unbeaten
Game Photo

The Rochester Adams Freshman football team improved to 7 and 0 with a 35 to 14 victory over the Farmington Harrison Hawks. This was another team victory with contributions from many Highlanders on both sides of the ball. Again the unsung heroes were the offensive and defensive lines. The game started slowly for Adams when Harrison opened the game with a 62 yard touchdown drive. Harrison's first play of the game went for 38 yards before the Highlanders defense came alive. Quad France and Fulton Zinser had several stops for no gain but several big plays kept the drive going. On third down Harrison's QB attempted his first pass and it went for an 18 yard touchdown to put the Hawks on the board. The extra point was no good and Harrison lead 6 to 0. Adams got the ball back and began a drive of their own. Zach Littleson and Kyle Niswonger carried the ball for our initial first down. Lonnie Jaynes then had 3 straight carries that netted 14 yards and another first down. ...More

10/2 Adams Wins 5th Straight with 42-7 win Over Seaholm
Rochester Adams ran their record up to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in their division, with a 42-7 win Over Birmingham Seaholm on Friday October 2nd. Not much went wrong for the Highlanders, as they marched down the field on the majority of their offensive possessions while holding their opponent to single digits. The Adams defense has given up a measly 36 pints thru 6 games making the Brown and Gold at the top in the points against category in the OAA. Seaholm played hard and appears much better than their 0-6 record would indicate. Adams proved to be too strong however and flexed its muscle after a fairly close 1st quarter. Both teams had turnovers on their first offensive possession. Andrew Hammett intercepted a pass on a Maple 3rd down to give the Highlanders the ball at the Seaholm 30. ...More

9/30 Adams JV dominates in victory over Seaholm, 50-21
The stat line tells the story of this game. The Adams Highlanders JV scored on six of ten possessions Wednesday evening at Adams Stadium on their way to a convincing 50-21 victory over Birmingham Seaholm. What happened to the other four possessions? One ran out the last few seconds of the first half and another was the game ending victory formation. It was a very efficient game for the Highlander offense. The defense even got into the swing of things scoring on an interception return for a touchdown. Adams (4-2) now has a three game victory streak, while Seaholm remains winless for the year (0-5). It didn't take long for the Highlanders to get their scoring machine charged up as linemen Jack Sicheneder, Mitch Miller and Jared Simard opened a gaping hole for back David Jagow who was off to the races for a 61 yard touchdown on the opening play of the game. It's sure hard to top a nine second scoring drive. ...More

9/30 Maples big plays keep it interesting but Freshmen Highlanders stay perfect, 54-37
The Freshman Highlanders entered Wednesday’s game fresh off their best overall performance of the season a shutout at Southfield that raised their record to 5-0. Adams displayed a dominating defense in its past two games and was on a streak of 8 consecutive quarters without allowing an offensive touchdown as it entered the final tune-up for two tough games against Harrison and Lake Orion. It took little time for Seaholm to snap that streak as they took the opening kickoff and marched 66 yards on 8 plays to take the early lead on the Highlanders 6-0. Just 20 seconds later the Highlanders struck right back as on the first play from scrimmage Jeremy Ball got the Maples to bite hard on a fake to his fullback and used the deception to find a big hole and scamper 69 yards into the Seaholm end zone. A Skinner kick put Adams on top 7-6. On the next series Kyle Niswonger pounced on a fumbled punt return and the Highlanders were back in business. ...More

9/25 Adams Varsity shuts out Southfield 38-0
Game Photo

For the second week in a row, the Adams Varsity Highlanders shut out their opponent while racking up over 30 points midway thru this 2009 regular season. This game against Southfield was hyped all week long as the winner would seemingly be in a very good position in the OAA White Division. Southfield possesses excellent team speed and athleticism that had the Highlanders working extra hard the entire week leading up to the game. Adams put a complete package together against the BlueJays that had the Highlander Homecoming crowd excited and somewhat in awe of the dominate nature of the win. Southfield started the game with possession at their 20. A 3rd down pass completion turned into a fumble recovered by Matt Rea to give Adams the ball at the Southfield 34 yard line. On a 4rth and 6 from the Southfield 18 yard line, Quarterback Andrew Hammett ran around right end to the Southfield 5. ...More

9/24 Adams JV shuts out Southfield 13-0
The first four games of the Adams JV season have been high scoring, run and gun affairs, highlighted with long scoring plays. Certainly they've been fun to watch. Thursday's game at Southfield, however, was a return to good old fashioned smash mouth football. The only thing missing in the 13-0 victory by the Adams JV (3-2) over Southfield (2-3) was a throw-back grass and dirt field. This was a big time win by the Highlanders who came out firing and never let up. There wasn't any long scoring plays, but there was plenty of outstanding offensive ball control and an aggressive defensive play. And, it was fun to watch. Give Southfield credit; the Blue Jays, who earlier this season defeated a tough Stoney Creek team, played hard until the last snap. Adams started the game with a tough defensive stand forcing Southfield to punt on their first possession. ...More

9/24 Adams Freshmen Shutout Southfield 22-0
The Freshman Highlanders dominated Southfield High School in impressive style at 22 to 0. The coaching staff had the boys well prepared and Adams played their best game of the year in a total team victory that had contributions from the entire team. The Adams defense set the tone from the opening kickoff. Zach Littleson stopped the Southfield ball carrier on the first play for a 1 yard loss. Two plays later, Kyle Niswonger sacked the quarterback for a loss of 8 yards to force a Southfield punt. Adams was not able to sustain their drive and punted the ball back to Southfield. The defense again allowed the Bluejays no breathing room and forced another 3 and out. With the football back, Adams began marching down field with Jeremy Ball galloping for 15 yards behind key blocks by Adonis Jamison and Matt Cobb. On third down, Kyle Niswonger drug 2 defenders for 4 yards and another first down. ...More

9/17 Adams Varsity Roll Past Groves 36-0

The Varsity Highlanders tallied up their third win of the season in an impressive 36-0 win over Birmingham Groves on Friday September 18th. The Highlanders came out determined to open their offense. They committed to the pass and started with a ‘hurry-up’/no huddle offense that set the tone for the night on the opening drive. The Adams defense was very strong recording their first shutout of the 2009 campaign. The Highlanders started the game at their 36. A 16 yard completion from quarterback Andrew Hammett to Alec Prechtel, was followed by a 14 yard run around left end by Prechtel, an 8 yard gain by Tyler Martin, and a 16 yard completion to Andy Morrissey. Marc Benacquisto plunged in to the end zone from 4 yards out to open the scoring. Tackles by Jordan Sanders and Tom Roncelli, stuffed Groves on their first offensive possession, giving Adams the ball back at their 37. ...More

9/16 Adams JV topple Groves, 41-7
Game Photo
Controlling a football game is usually the result of strong defense, solid special teams and dominating time of possession. With contribution from the full team, the Highlanders JV accomplished all three objectives leading Adams (2-2) to a commanding 41-7 victory over Birmingham Groves (0-4) Wednesday evening at Groves Stadium. Adams kicker, Ryan Cesiel, started the game with the first of many booming kickoffs. Jeff Andrews' open field tackle forced the Falcons to start on their own ten yard line. Right out of the gate the Adams defense forced a three plays and punt for the Falcons. However on Adams first offensive play they fumbled the ball back to the Falcons at midfield. On second down the Falcons completed a 20 yard pass highlighted with another spectacular one-handed catch (Adams fans have certainly witnessed several of these so far this season). Two nice runs by the Falcons pushed the ball to the Adams one yard line for a first and goal situation. ...More

9/16 Something in the "error"….Highlanders down Groves 10-6
Game Photo
The undefeated Freshman Highlanders traveled to Birmingham on Wednesday to take on a Groves team that was still searching for its first win of the season. On paper this looked like it might have the makings of a lopsided win for the Highlanders, however, as some famous sports personality once side…that is why we play the game. Late in the 4th quarter the Highlanders started a drive at the Groves 34 yard line hoping to tack on another score. After getting a first down and continuing to move the ball deeper into Groves territory Jeremy Ball was stopped on a keeper on 4th and short and Groves took over on their own 15. It was hard to believe as Groves took over deep in their own end that they still had a chance to upset the Highlanders considering with 4 minutes remaining in the game they still had not registered a first down. ...More

Alec Prechtel carries the ball in the win over Farmington
The Rochester Adams Highlanders took the long trek to Farmington on Friday September 11th to take on the upstart Falcons. Farmington has been picked in many pre-season polls 2nd in the OAA White Division, right behind the Highlanders. As is the case in most things in life, and in sports, you have to have a solid base, a foundation. In Football, the building blocks of any successful team, is determined by the strength or weakness of the offensive and defensive lines. Names like the pit, the gutter, the trenches, men young and old that play this game, will tell you that line play is dirty, hard hitting, and good old fashioned tough work! These guys do not get the glory or the fame but the sincere appreciation on most teams come from coaches and fellow players. So far in this young season of 2009, the Highlanders have shown their line play to be very solid. ...More

9/10 Farmington wins wild shootout against Adams JV, 47-34
Thursday night at Adams Stadium a track meet broke out during the Adams JV football game against the Farmington Falcons. Well it sure seemed like a track meet with both teams ripping off one long scoring play after another. When the dust finally settled, the undefeated Falcons (3-0) came out on top, besting the Highlanders 47-34. Adams falls to 1-2 for the year. The game was a tale of the two half's. Adams came out strong in the first half and led at halftime 21-14, however behind the sensational effort of Farmington back, Connor Mohr, the Falcons scored 34 second half points to pull out the victory. Unofficially, Mohr had over 350 all purpose yards in the game. Adams started the game with a blazing 60 yard scoring drive that took all of 46 seconds. Adam Boike returned the opening kickoff 20 yards and Corey Clemons took it from there, following the blocks of Jared Simard and Tyler Needs, with a 56 yard scamper on second down. ...More

The Freshman Highlanders took to the gridiron Thursday hoping to avoid the “back to school blues” against the Farmington Falcons who entered Highlander stadium 1-1 on the young season. The Falcons lost their opener to Southfield and rebounded with a shutout against Groves in their second game. The young Highlanders are 2-0. The game started with both offenses struggling to get started. On the Falcons second possession Kyle Lawless picked off a Falcon pass but the Highlanders gave the ball right back to Farmington deep in their own end on a fumble . It took just two plays for the Falcons to get on the board punching one over from 10 yards out and after the XP point Adams trailed 7-0. Adams knotted it back up quickly after QB Jeremy Ball hooked up with Q France for 42 yards on 4th and 1. On the next play Ball scored on a keeper and Evan Skiff kicked the XP and the sides were square at 7-7. ...More

9/4 Highlanders Rebound with 49-8 trouncing of Stoney Creek
Game Photo
Hard hitting results in a Stoney Creek Fumble (Photo by Jill Olmack)
In somewhat of a little brother/big brother fashion, Adams rebounded from a week 1 loss to Clarkston with a 49-8 win over Stoney Creek on September 4rth. The Cougars have waited a long time for this night; a chance to host the Highlanders on their field for the first time since the school opened in 2002. In the not too distant past, Little Brother would torment Big Brother in the build up for the contest thru word of mouth, hand written notes and graffiti on the walls of buildings. Today, contests are hyped, thru face book, twitter, blogs, IM’s and texts. Regardless of the venue, the hype was in full swing leading up to this game as the Stoney Creek Cougars wanted to prove how far their program has come to compete against the mighty Highlanders. Adams started on offense with possession on their 20 yard line. After the drive stalled, the Cougars set up their offense at their 37 yard line. Chad Gierak recovered a fumble to set up Adams at the Cougar 30 yard line. ...More

9/3 2010 Sr All Night Party committee thanks the Highlanders!
A big thank you to senior Highlanders who gave up a sunny afternoon the last week of summer vacation to help transport truckloads of Sr All Night Party decorations to a storage facility. Players donating their time and biceps were Devin Needs, Alec Prechtel, Peter Bahner, Kyle Monahan, Ozi McClelland, Marc Benacquisto, Matt Rea, Tyler Martin, TJ Trouba and Tom Walbrun. Special thanks to '08 grad and football Alumn, Matt Vaiciunas who graciously helped with the final load after the players had to report to practice. Thanks Matt!

9/3 Adams JV falls to Stoney Creek, 32-14
In the home opener at Adams Stadium the JV Highlanders (1-1) fell short to their cross town rival Stoney Creek (2-0), 32-14. Under perfect blue skies, the large turnout crowd validated the passion of the local high school fans in the Rochester area. This was certainly a tough loss for the Highlanders, but credit goes to Stoney Creek for executing big scoring drives, several of which were led by Stoney Creek freshman players. Stoney Creek started the game with a bang marching down the field with a 71 yard scoring drive that was highlighted by strong plays by both teams. Adams defenders Matt Morris, Matt Hillier and Nathan Bristow made crunching tackles that pushed the Cougars back. However on a third down and eight, the freshman Stoney Creek running back was bunched up at the line of scrimmage but squirmed out of the pack and sprinted 34 yards to the Adams 10 yard line. ...More

9/3 Freshmen blank Stoney Creek 33-0
The Freshman Highlanders hosted cross town rivals Stony Creek in the first home game of the season on Thursday. The Highlanders came in fresh off a big win over Clarkston in their opener while the Cougars entered Highlander stadium looking to turn things around after a disappointing start against Troy Athens. Unfortunately for the visiting Cougars it would be a long day. After taking the opening kick and starting their first drive from their own 40 Stoney dropped back to pass on their second play from scrimmage and a Lonnie Jaynes sack resulted in a fumble that was recovered by Kyle Lawless. It took just 3 plays before Jaynes took it over the goal line from 5 out and an Evan Skiff extra point made it 7-0 Adams. The Adams defense stepped up on the second Cougar possession with linebackers Zack Littleson and Adonis Jamison making tackles and forcing a quick 3 and out for the visiting Cougars. ...More

8/28 Adams drops opener 6-3 to Clarkston in a Downpour
Game Photo
The Rochester Adams Highlanders unveiled the 2009 version of their team on August 28th against the Clarkston Wolves. Clarkston has been ranked very high in the pre-season polls led by a high powered offense, while Adams has been touted as‘re-tooling’. As has been the situation before, Mother Nature played a significant part in the game between the Brown and Gold and the neighbors up I-75. The weather man predicted on and off rain during the evening. He was half right as the torrential downpour had no stop in sight as the setting was similar to South Florida during the rainy season. The rain for sure played part in a surprising defensive battle featuring many fumbles, penalties, dropped passes and interceptions over touchdowns. In the end the game was decided by field goals with Clarkston kicking two and Adams one. Clarkston started their opening drive on their own 30. After two 1rst downs, the drive stalled and they punted to Adams who took over at their own 20 yard line. ...More

8/27 Adams JV outlasts Clarkston, 26-20
Drama and big plays highlighted the season opening win by the Rochester Adams JV Highlanders over the Clarkston Wolves and did the large turnout crowd ever get their money's worth! The Highlanders preserved a nail-biter swatting away a game ending pass in the Adams end-zone. In typical first game form, Adams received the ball on the opening kickoff and both teams proceeded to "trade" off-side penalties. With the butterflies gone, the Highlander veer offense got moving with a 11 yard gain by quarterback Corey Clemmons. Clemons also connected on a crisp sideline pass to Adam Boike, however the opening drive stalled with an Adams turnover at midfield. Clarkston revealed a new spread offense formation to start the game and knocked out two first downs before being forced to punt. Nathan Bristow and Jack Sicheneder made some key tackles on the drive. ...More

8/27 Highlanders take opener from Wolves 38-24
The Freshman Highlanders traveled north to take on long time rival Clarkston in the opener of the 2009/2010 season. Last season the Freshman Wolves tripped up the Highlanders in the season opener in a close game and the Highlanders were looking to avenge last year’s game. After both team’s opening drives fizzled the Wolves started their second series from their own 11 yard line. After two short running plays the Wolves dropped back to pass on 3 and 6. A high throw went through the hands of the Clarkston receiver and into the arms of Highlander Jack Twitty who raced 16 yards into the end zone for the season’s first score. The extra point was blocked and the Highlanders led 6-0. On the ensuing kickoff Clarkston took over on their own 35 and proceeded to march down the field on a 10 play 65 yard scoring drive which ended with a 12 yard touchdown run. The extra point was blocked and the sides were knotted up at 6-6. Adams took over from their own 38. ...More

Adams players at Habitat for Humanity
While most Adams students were enjoying the last few days of summer vacation, two dozen Varsity Adams Players were busy working. Starting at 7:30 there was practice, of course, but in the afternoon, they headed into Pontiac to volunteer at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. According to Heather Rea, the parent volunteer who organized the outing, "The boys are all good workers and I'm proud to be part of a team that is willing to reach out and serve others." The boys assisted in organizing the building materials at the store which makes recycled and donated items available to those in need.

7/15 Alex McClelland
The Adams Family has suffered another loss as Alex McClelland lost his long battle with cancer today. Alex, team captain of the 2006 Highlanders and a graduate of the class of 2007, demonstrated a true fighting spirit and represented the very best attributes of what we talk about within the football program: leadership, strength, and generosity. As a team captain, Alex touched many lives and his passing leaves a void. His passion toward life will always be remembered, as will his love for everyone around him.
Our prayers go out to his parents, Brian and Carolanne, Austin and Chelsea and his fiancee, Kiley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for a future scholarship in Alex's memory.

It is with great sadness that I pass on the news that the Adams Family suffered a tremendous loss. Dillon Cope, (JV, #40), passed away on May 14th. For those of us fortunate enough to have known him, our lives are better because of it. He truly chose to Live Strong.
