Freshmen Highlanders Win Big, 45-0 over Seaholm

The Rochester Adams Freshmen Highlanders drove their win streak and undefeated season to 5 games with a huge 45-0 win over Birmingham Seaholm on Wednesday September 19th.
Another warm late summer afternoon with temperatures in the high 80’s was maybe better suited for baseball then football. The young Highlanders however would have none of that as it looked to them to be a perfect day for football and a perfect time to make a huge statement in a divisional game.

On their first offensive possession quarterback Andrew Hammett ran 19 yards to set up a Jordan Gowman 4 yard TD plunge over right guard Sukhman Sidhu.

Ben Hollett intercepted a Seaholm pass on their first possession that started a very long afternoon for the Maples. The Adams defense once again continued their stingy ways in giving up very few yards and zero points on the day.

On the next offensive possession for Adams Andrew Hammett had a couple of great runs that set up the offense 1rst and goal from the Seaholm 2 yard line. Two plays later Hammett ran behind the blocking of left guard Ayaz Khan for the touchdown and a 12-0 Adams lead with 2 minutes to go in the 1rst quarter.

On the first play of the 2nd quarter, Brad Nylan blocked a Seaholm punt which set up Adams at the Maples 22. Gannon Pacioni took it from there with a 22 yard run around right end down to the Seaholm 5. Jordon Gowman once again answered the call with a TD run to make it 18-0 Adams.

Matt Nestor intercepted a Seaholm pass on their next possession for the Adams offense to set up at the 50. On the very next play Andrew Hammett connected with Ben Hollett for a 40 yard strike all the way down to the Seaholm 10. A Hammett pass to Nylen completed the touchdown followed by a successful Cameron Casey extra point to make it 25-0 Adams with 9 minutes to go in the half.

The next Adams possession saw Seam Geraci run 36 yards to the Seaholm 9 yard line. Arya Ahmady ran it in from there with the extra point good for a 32-0 Adams lead.

The scoring for the first half concluded when Jack Wentzloff ran around left end for the touchdown and a 39-0 Adams lead at halftime.
In the 2nd half a Desante Dinkins long punt return set up a Matt Nestor TD run around left end to end the scoring for the day at 45-0 Adams.
This was a game that Adams clearly played hard and to their potential, not to the competition. Take nothing away from Seaholm, they fought and played hard right to the end.

The frosh now head back on the road for a game next Thursday the 27th at North Farmington.

Phone the aunts, the uncles, grandma and grandpa…the boys have something special going here!!
